A Courthouse Wedding

January 21, 2010

Fellow Boston wedding blogger Abby of Peaches by Plums recently posted photos of her super sweet courthouse wedding.  She and her husband tied the knot in Pennsylvania and will have a larger celebration in Ireland later this year.  I love small weddings, and I love love love courthouse weddings.

These are a few of my favorite pictures — check out the rest here.  Abby uses Poladroid to give her images this neat effect.

Last week, on a perfect fall day, my beloved and I got all dolled up and hit the historic streets of Boston for our engagement photos.  The lovely Lisa Rigby calmed our nerves and made the afternoon fun and natural.  I still can’t believe the results.  See more on Lisa’s blog – which totally made me blush!

Ah!  So clever and cute – I can hardly stand it!  I discovered Beverly and Neil’s fantastic engagement photos via Mint.  Everything about their stylish, budget-minded wedding is amazing.  Check it out!

Wedding Photographer – check!

June 30, 2009

Today we signed the contract and put down the deposit for an absolutely amazing wedding photographer.  Unlike my previous post, our meeting with Lisa Rigby went off without a hitch.  We sat and drank coffee like old friends while she explained her services and style.  She was so warm and genuinely excited for us that we left the meeting feeling totally giddy and newly excited about our wedding.  We figured if she’s this talented, and she made us feel this good, we had to have her there on our big day.  Visit Lisa’s blog for more romance and loveliness.  I am thrilled beyond description!

Having just returned from a delightful weekend in Brooklyn, I wanted to share a beautiful New york wedding photo by photographer Jason Groupp.

Generations of Inspiration

May 27, 2009

In preparation for a 2011 bridal fashion exhibition at the V&A, the museum is collecting online submissions of wedding photographs taken between 1840 and the present day.  Go here to contribute your own piece of wedding history.

I lost track of time as I browsed the collection decade by decade.  My favorite wedding so far is the 1930 marriage of Dorothy Murphy and Simon G. Friesen in Merced County, CA.

Bicycle Built for Two

May 23, 2009

Our wedding budget absolutely does not allow for videography, which on first thought did not bother me.  But then I discovered this:

Jesse and Deanna’s Wedding

Jesse and Deanna are some of my wedding idols.  Even though they are no longer updating their blog, it is still worth a visit (or many).

And as for their wedding video, I think I love it so much because it’s short and sweet – no awkward interviews or long  speeches – and really seems to capture the essence of their day.    If we were to hand the video camera over to a few trusted friends for our ceremony and reception, I wonder if we’d be able to edit our way down to something with a similar feel.
